List five things you’ve done in your states: Arvind Kejriwal to Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: Daring BJP-ruled states to list even five things that they had achieved in the past several years in power, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for asking for votes on “communal lines” in UP.

Forget other states, list five things that the Modi government has done in almost three years,” he said, targeting the two-member BJP in the assembly.

“I don’t blame you for not knowing as even Modiji doesn’t know what he has done. I heard all his speeches during the election rallies. In UP, he has not listed even a single work that his government has done. I also went to Punjab for campaigning and asked for votes on the basis of what we have done in Delhi. On the other hand, the PM asked for votes on the basis of ‘kabristans’ and ‘shamshan ghats’,” the CM said.

Responding to leader of opposition Vijender Gupta’s charges that his government had done no work, Kejriwal said he was happy to know that the only fault that the opposition found with the AAP government was that it had not fulfilled its promises made in the manifesto.

“The BJP government is dealing with daily charges of corruption, rape, child trafficking, etc. In two years, I am happy that at least the opposition can’t accuse us of corruption of any kind. The BJP party president had said that manifestos are pre-election promises with no value. We, however, take our manifesto seriously and promise to deliver on all issues by the end of five years (of our tenure),” Kejriwal said.

The CM hit out against other political parties, saying that Congress, BJP, SP and BSP were all out to “get him” as he had spoilt their “cozy camaraderie” by entering politics.

“BJP, Congress, etc, are all friends. Modi abused Robert Vadra before the elections, but three years down the line, there is not even an FIR against him. These parties got upset when we, as outsiders, came and spoilt things for them and now all of them are trying to destroy us,” he said.

Kejriwal then listed some of the work that AAP had undertaken in Delhi, comparing them with other states, especially Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan where BJP has been in office for years. These included having the cheapest power across the country, mohalla clinics, odd-even for air pollution, among others. “We are creating 8,000 new classrooms, equivalent to 200 schools. We have 106 mohalla clinics operational. Even though I have been only on a single foreign trip since I became CM, people across the world are praising the work done by Delhi government ... The PM is constantly out of the country, people are laughing at his demonetisation scheme,” the CM said.--ET
